Holkham Hall in Black and White

As well as getting married in Norfolk, we also spent a week in the barns after the wedding with our families. We don't get to spend as much time at home as we would like with everyone, so it seemed like the perfect reason to celebrate all week long with the people we love and also play tourists in our own county.

One thing that I really wanted to do whilst we were there was visit Holkham Hall - Thomas's Dad works there and he gave me, my sister and my brother in law our very own tour around the hall and it was so amazing! He also got to show off his new daughter in law to his colleagues which I know he very much enjoyed.

I absolutely loved the details in each room, as you can see in these photos everything was so ornate and intricate, even the door handles and light switches! I was a little worried abut using black and white film as the colours were gorgeous but I'm pleased these worked out well, they give the hall a timeless look to them I think. I have some colour photos too (of course) but I'm glad I risked it with these photos as well.

If you're ever in the area I highly recommend a visit to the hall and the grounds as well and if you see someone working there called Paul definitely say hi!

Harry Mungus

I have no idea how this nickname came about for Harry or even how it stuck, but it has and now I call him it fairly often. I don't think he really cares what you call him luckily as long as you give him attention or even better, feed him.

Most of this walk was spent as most of his walks on the beach are spent - searching for the perfect stone to bring home with him. Once he's got it, he holds onto it for dear life (though his head is turned by a biscuit if you time it right...). You can just see that he did manage to find one eventually in the last photo, phew!

Our Mini Moon - Hardcastle Crags Part I

When I was taking these photos I believed this to be my last roll of Kodak BW400CN and I was so sad because I really do love this film but I was also so happy because it was our mini moon and what better place to take photos with one of my favourite films.

We also happened to be walking around Hardcastle Crags and I had another one of those moments where I couldn't quite believe that we were in Yorkshire or that somewhere so beautiful could be so close to where we live (similar to Brimham Rocks which also took my breath away). And getting these photos back, I'm so pleased I used the film when I did, I love them!

Of course loving them so much only led to me mourning the loss of Kodak BW400CN further and I ended up buying ten more rolls - oops and hurrah!!  So I'm delighted to say these won't be my last photos from this film, though I think they will always be up there with my favourites.

Everything's the same. Everything's completely different.

One of our wedding photos taken by the extremely lovely and crazy talented Katherine Mager - and its taken on film (we had digital and film hurray) at an abbey ruin, with a real film light leak on our wedding day. Be still my heart... thank you Kat.

Before we got married, everyone told us that 'nothing changes... you're still the same people and life still goes on'. And now that we've been married a month I can see that its true. We're back at work, back to watching our tv shows and films in the evening and now we even have spare time - I'd totally forgotten what that was 1 month ago haha.

But what no one told me is that at the same time - everything is completely different. Sure there's the seemingly obvious things like wearing a wedding ring and changing your name (which someone should have warned me is the biggest faff ever)... but its the surprise times you notice - holding Thomas's hand and feeling the ring there or seeing it on the counter when he's washing up. Getting post that actually shows your new name and the slight bewilderment of seeing it on paper. Perhaps at some point I'll be so used to these things that I barely notice but I kind of hope not, I want to enjoy it all as much as I can.

After the wedding, Thomas asked me how I was and how I felt and I replied

"I feel like I've gained something I didn't even realise I was missing."

And that's the best way I can describe it - everything is the same but everything feels different, I feel different, we feel different. I still can't really believe its happened but I like it and now I can't imagine life without that feeling.
