Little details at Oxburgh Hall

I guess you've probably gathered from all my photos at Oxburgh Hall that I love old halls and luckily for us, there are so many around the UK. In fact, my parents gave me a book of my Grandad's that was just old halls in Yorkshire - and now I want to visit them ALL! And obviously take photos...

I've been taking Susannah Conway's Blogging from the Heart course over the last couple of weeks - more as a little reminder as to why I love blogging rather than because I need to learn much more about it - so rather than just leave you with the details here like I usually do, I'm going to say a little bit about how much I love taking photos like this.

There's something so wonderful in the act of noticing things I think - but to document it, to really look at something a bit closer through a lens - that experience is a bit more intimate and much more personal. Rather than just glimpsing, you almost create a story between yourself and the object you're taking a photo of, an attachment of sorts - so when you get that film photo back from the lab not only do you see that object in the photo, but you remember how you felt when you saw it and you feel that connection all over again.

Lovely light at Oxburgh

Sometimes I think about renaming my blog to a more photography related name, but all I really come back to is 'lovely light' because that's what I'm really chasing when I'm taking photos. I'm quite fond of my blog name though, so instead, I'll just have lots of blog posts with the same 'lovely light' title haha.

These were all taken around Oxburgh Hall in Norfolk and once again I was so excited that they let you take photos inside

Oxburgh Hall Part 1

I really love it when a hall lets you take photos inside... I mean REALLY love it! We've been to a couple lately where I've been wondering around and inwardly sighing to myself 'that is such a gorgeous photo' whilst my camera is safely packed in my bag and my fingers are twitching with wanting to use it. However, Oxburgh Hall was not one of those halls - Oxburgh Hall lets you take photos - Oxburgh Hall is my current favourite hall ever ha!

(this photo totally makes me swoon!)

The light! The lovely little details (always my fave!), the out of focus selfie which I really love because I was there and I was so happy walking around and soaking it all in. I'm even happy with the colours in these photos (until I perhaps look on my work computer rather than our laptop...) so yeah - visit Oxburgh Hall!
