Looking back through the pictures of Hvar, it's hard to believe we were really there - its so unlike anywhere that I've been before.

As part of our exploration of Hvar we ventured up the steps through the old town and continued up the hill towards the Fort that looks across the city. It was so hot and the hill was very steep, but it was all completely worth it when we got to the top.
As well as saving my ektar film for our trip, I also saved the last of my portra NC 160 film and I'm so glad that I did - whilst the ektar captures the blues and reds beautifully, the portra film captures the softness of the light and the creams of the walls so prettily. We stayed in the fort for quite a while watching the world, boats and birds pass us by as we looked out to sea and across the surrounding islands, it was definitely one of my favourite moments of the week.

Hvar (the island as well as the city) is honestly one of the prettiest places that I've ever been. With turquoise green sea for as far as you can see, islands with golden sand in the distance and blue skies that never seem to end, it is exactly as you would expect a perfect Mediterranean climate to be and it did not disappoint.
After looking around Stari Grad, we weren't sure that the Island could get much better - and then we got to Hvar. Hvar in comparison is much more touristy but this did not detract from the city at all, it was comfortably busy and fun to walk around.
One thing I really miss about being in Croatia is how bright and colourful things were, England is very green, but that's pretty much it - green and grey. I miss the reds, the blues, the creams and yellows - the variety I guess. I definitely miss the warmth and sunshine too.
