Film burn IV & V

I was so sure I'd written a post about these kind of results before - but searching through my (somewhat unorganised, I will admit) blog archives, I can't seem to find it, so if I'm repeating myself, I apologise.

Although these images are never intentional, I'm always so glad that they are included on the disc of results I get from Max Speilmann, it would be so easy to delete them and consider them a waste product - but I think they are beautiful in their own right and a wonderful celebration of the film process, capturing light and how abstract and varied the photography medium can be.

I could be reading too much into them of course but I'm getting a nice little collection of film burn images on Society6 now and  I'll be adding these when I get a chance too hopefully.

Feeling creative and accidentally starting a new shop...

July 9, 2014 Rhianne

Although I am a film photographer - I'm also a digital designer - I studied Interior Design at University and during that time I developed a love for computer design programs. I've used that to my advantage in creating this blog, but I've never thought of it being something I could 'do' on the internet... I've always thought - well I can do that, I should push my boundaries - which is why I started using film cameras - to challenge myself.

But looking through some Society6 pages today I thought - I could do things like this - and it was a good thought, an exciting(!) thought rather than a bad one. I have Photoshop Elements and I know how to use it, I have inspiration - my own photos... and ta da! A  new shop is born.

So today I am introducing Distracted Graphics (it was the best I could come with in a short amount of time haha). If you can't beat them... join them*. And I'm already mildly obsessed and feeling creative again which is such a good feeling, hurray!

To create these graphics I've been taking the colours from my photos - so far this one and this one - to create new exciting prints. I have had so much fun doing it too. The only question now is - which photo should I take colours from next?!

You can also get free shipping on Society6 at the moment - at Distracted Graphics and For the easily distracted...

*I'm going to be chuckling at this tag line forever I think.

Tiles, tiles tiles... on Society6!

July 2, 2014 Rhianne

If you follow me on Twitter you might have noticed that I've spent today uploading posts on Society6 and again, I have to admit that I wish I had an iphone just so I could buy ALL of these cases with my Porto tile photos on them.

I am so smitten with how these tile photos look on there, I loved seeing them in person and seeing them available for other people to have too has just totally made my day!

Luckily, they don't just look amazing as phone cases, they also look great as mugs, tote bags (seriously, I want them all!) and if you fancy them - wall clocks!

I'm on Society 6

society6

I've seen a lot of peoples work on Society 6 recently and really loved it (Cassia Beck is my favourite*, its a good thing I don't have an iphone, or I would be buying them all as cases... I will be buying this tote eventually though!) and last week I decided to set up my own.

Society 6 is essentially a shop platform that allows you to upload your artwork (photos, illustrations, collages etc) for free to create various products such as prints, iphone covers, tote bags and even pillows. For every item that is sold, you then get a small percentage of the profits. Essentially for me, Society 6 removes all the hard work of sourcing places to produce these items, ordering them, packaging them and posting them out (everything that took too much time for me with my Etsy shop) all you have to do is upload the image, which is so simple, and your item is there.

If I'm honest, I created mine mainly because I wanted to see my photos as Iphone cases - that's probably a little sad/odd/hilarious/indulgent but I just loved the idea of them being something that someone uses everyday, as well as the idea of prints being on someones wall.

You can find my items here!

I've found it quite hard to pick photos, so if theres one you really wanted and its not there, let me know :)

*I've been a huge fan of Cassia's work since I started my blog and she's been incredibly supportive with giveaways and such here too, so if you love her Society 6 definitely check out her Etsy shops as well: Cassia Beck, Lola's Room and Violet May.
