One of the main reasons we wanted to go to Stari Grad, rather than straight to the town of Hvar on Hvar Island, was to see the Stari Grad Plain. The plain is a UNESCO world heritage site as the argricultural landscape was set up by the Greeks in the 4th century and is still in use today - something that I found fascinating.
So as well as looking around the town, we also venture outside the town to try and see the plain. We didn't see a lot of the plain on our walk, but we did see some nice views of the town.
We also saw much more on our bus journey from Stari Grad to Hvar that afternoon. I didn't take any photos of that though - I was too busy trying not to look down as the bus turned some very tight corners along the mountain roads :)
