I didn't know much about the Cow and Calf Rocks in Ilkley other than that it was a beautiful location with stunning views - so I had a quick look on the internet which knows all and this is what I found on Wikipedia:
"According to legend, the Calf was split from the Cow when the giant Rombald was fleeing an enemy, and stamped on the rock as he leapt across the valley. The enemy, it is said, was his angry wife."
