Getting to know each other at Kirkstall Abbey

Its a bit strange sharing photos from my new camera when I haven’t actually taken any photos with it since December… Winter + myalgic encephalomyelitis (ME) are not the one my friends, so I’ve been hibernating as much as I can - I do however have plans for this camera with a week in London very soon (eep) Should I get another memory card?! Oh boy I havent had to worry about this before. How fun!

Anyway… one thing I did do when it wasnt as cold and I could brave the external air was take my new bestie camera to the local abbey for some experimenting and ‘getting to know you’ photos. If you’ve been hanging around a while, you’ve probably already seen photos of the Abbey on here - but theres always new thing to see right!

Overall I’m pleased with these for a first visit to the abbey - I tried to find new things to spot but I also think I ended up taking very similar shots to ones I’ve taken before, just to see what happened.

an old friend in lockdown

On one of our summer walks around Kirkstall Abbey during lockdown, I spontaneously grabbed my Superheadz Yellow Wide and Slim (which a quick Google tells me you can no longer buy?! wtf. wow). I haven’t used this little camera in 5 years so I have no idea why I picked it up now - perhaps because I needed something a bit simpler during this time - but I’m really glad I did grab it. And I’m also glad it still works!

Can you believe that I forgot how much I like this camera - sure the landscape shots aren’t really my style anymore - but I still love how this camera captures the details I have focused on (all the rubbish for example - people suck) and gives it a context other than just what I’ve been drawn to. And those lens flares… gosh I miss sunshine right now!

I’ll definitely try and remember to pick this camera up more often going forward - especially as my poor old LC-A seems to be beyond repair now.
