In October I spent the day with Zoe at the Reetsweet Autumn Fair in the Corn Exchange in Leeds. As we were there all day,
I took it as a opportunity to practice populating my photos and to try and document the lovely light and
atmosphere that the Reetsweet fairs have.

Tomorrow the Reetsweet Christmas Fair is being held at the Corn Exchange and I’m really looking forward to wandering around and
probably buying some christmas gifts too. If you live in Leeds I highly recommend a visit.
Also this weekend our christmas tree is going up and I am EXCITED. I love Christmas, woohoo!
Have a great weekend :)

So it has been a few months since the Olympics and since the Olympic Torch came near our house (you can see my instagram photos of the torch here). I was a little anxious of taking photos of everyone around us whilst we waited, but I’m so glad that I did, I think these capture it pretty well.

In October my blog friend, the lovely Zoe, from Ladybird Likes came to visit and as well as helping her out with her stall at Reetsweet, we also went for a lovely little photo walk around Kirkstall Abbey.

I love meeting blog friends in person and Zoe was a joy to spend the weekend with, I’m so glad that she came to visit and Thomas and I both enjoyed showing her around Leeds and getting to know her better.
You can see Zoe’s beautiful film photos from the weekend here (with a cameo appearance of my hand) do check them out, I really love them as it was great watching Zoe take her photos and then seeing the final results.
Have a great weekend, I’m spending mine with my girls and I can’t wait already.

Before I kick off my Whitby photos (there are a lot, I love them so already) I knew that I had to share these photos of Harry first. I can’t believe that I completely forgot I had taken them but then these are from May…

I know this last one has everyones trainers in focus rather than Harry, but I still quite like it and his little annoyed face cracks me up. He really wanted to go for a walk and we were all sitting around having cups of tea haha. Also he gets fed up with me putting cameras in his face after a little bit so he does this. I love him.
p.s. If you haven’t seen Harry’s annoyed at me face before, there is another photo here that cracks me up just as much. Poor Harry…

Though really, its more excitement than a bad storm…
On Friday my little sister is getting married, so I’m at home helping her sort things out and pestering the dog with my cameras, haha.
(There will be Harry photos on
Instagram, woo)
I’m so excited!!!

Over the weekend I’ve been reading through the ‘
Thing’s I’m afraid to tell you posts‘ and I’m feeling conflicted about it – in many ways, I’m so glad that people are being honest but at the same time I’m amazed that people really believe that other bloggers lifes are that perfect…
I don’t share my feelings often here, but it’s not because I’m afraid, or worried that you’ll judge me – I already judge myself too harshly and if I don’t share something here, its usually because I’m hiding it from myself rather than a larger audience. I know that I am my own worst enemy.
My photos today are technically bad – they are out of focus, you can’t make out what you are looking at and at first I was disappointed with them. But after looking at them again, I think that they are beautiful, they remind me to slow down, appreciate the moment, stop being so hard on myself to take the perfect photo and to just wait a few more seconds to let myself enjoy it, let the camera and light do its thing and then, when I’m ready, take the photo.
I think we all need this reminder sometimes – perfection, happiness, wealth and beauty are all relative – what works for me won’t work for you – and thats how blogging is too – read a blog because you love it but know (and remember) that behind every amazing photo there is always one (maybe more) that is out of focus too.

Hello! Sorry for the blog silence, I’ve been sick.
I’m feeling much better now though and I finally developed my elusive film from February over the weekend too
so I finally have some colour photos to share, hurray!
(I’m not thrilled with the scans though, I’m going to take the negs to my usual place, so these may be replaced when I do that…)

I’m so glad these photos turned out well, they are of St Patrick’s Chapel, Heysham – a ruined building which stands on the coastline of Heysham, next to the newer St Peter’s Church. It is a Grade I listed building and a Scheduled Ancient Monument believed to be dated from the 8th or 9th Century.
Just beneath the chapel was a peaceful little cove where we sat for a while taking it all in, I loved the colours of the shells and the sound of the waves.

Also I’m liking the forgotten photos theme for this week…
Stratford is most famous for its association with William Shakespeare and as well as seeing the house that Shakespeare was born in, we also saw the church that he was buried in. Quite cyclical I think.
I loved studying Shakespeare at school and college so it was great to visit Stratford and see it an educational point of view as well as a touristy one.
You can see all of the photos that I took in Stratford with this camera in this Flickr Set, there are quite a few I didn’t share on here.

Can you believe its Friday already?! This week has flown by!
Happy weekend!
p.s. I know this is so late, I suck. But the winner of the Hue and Hum print is Micaela, hurray! I’ll email you M!
As well as having my Diana Mini with me for our week away, I also took the Yashica Samurai with me and I must admit, this camera is really growing on me. I love that it can pick up details that Lomography cameras can sometimes miss without losing the wonderful grain from the film or the quality of colour I’ve come to expect from analogue cameras.
{warning, lots of photos coming up, I couldn’t bring myself to remove any…}
These were taken around the same area as my last Stratford photos and I find it fascinating to see the difference between the photos, not just with the layout but in how I take them and what I focus on. These capture the atmosphere, the light and the town so well. My photos always make me want to go back. I love that.

Yesterday I got 148 photos developed, some from the past week and a couple from York with
Adele and I have no idea where to start sharing them, I haven’t even put all of the last black and white diana mini film on Flickr yet…
I’m not complaining though, I am delighted!
I can’t believe I’ve taken so many photos already this year… YEAY!
Anyway, the lovely
Elizabeth suggesting closing my eyes and picking one at random, so today’s post is going to be about doors and doorways… they seem to be my new fascination.

{The perfect yellow door, Henley in Arden. Diana mini with Lomography Colour Negative ISO 400 film This is totally going in my shop btw, eventually…}
{Church Door, Stratford Upon Avon. Yashica Samurai with Lomography Colour Negative ISO 400 film}
{Doorway in Stratford. Yashica Samurai with Lomography Colour Negative ISO 400 film}
{The prettiest door in Bourton-on-the-Water surrounded by my favourite – Costwolds Brick. Happy sigh. Yashica Samurai with Lomography Colour Negative ISO 400 film}
I think I’m going to have to start using my yashica samurai more, its the perfect companion to a lomography camera as it has a great zoom feature (which I do miss sometimes) and you can take double the amount of photos per roll which is fun, especially as I love the square diana mini’s too much to use it as a half frame camera anymore…
p.s. Colour photos I still adore you, that yellow is unbelievably perfect!
Everytime I go to start a post about Krakow, it nearly starts with ‘my favourite thing about…’ but really, the whole city is my favourite at the moment – and the Planty – the ‘green circle’ park gardens that surrounded the old town is another feature of the city that I particularly adored. Especially as our apartment was literally across the road from it and we walked around at least one part of it everyday, hurray!

{photos taken with my new fave – the yashica samurai and my fuji instax mini, hurray}
In fact, I think every city needs a park to encompass it so I can walk around in Autumn and admire the beautiful leaves! (Yes, I mean you Leeds!)
In other news my parents are coming to visit this weekend – finally – so I am very excited!
I hope you all have a great weekend!
p.s. my lovely blog friend Eadaoin from
City of Blackbirds featured me in her new Inspiration Secrets blog series this week – so if you’re wondering what mine are -
have a look
(and say hi to Ead, I love her!)
Walking around Krakow was honestly one of my favourite pass times whilst we were there – there was always something new to notice and I was often walking around looking up at the buildings rather than where I should have been going…

Aren’t the buildings gorgeous? Even though some were run down, it just added to their character and to the feeling of the City.
I think I want to go back…
Everytime I see any terrible news about Indonesia, Clara is the first person I think of and I know that Anna has loved ones she cares about and worries about too, so if you are interested in gaining a new camera and helping a great cause, please have a look.
The first highlight of Krakow that we really explored was the main square in the Old Town.

It was such a pleasure walking around the square, taking in the atmosphere and enjoying the people watching – there was always something going on.
{Photos taken with my fuji instax mini and my new favourite – the Yashica Samurai}
(though I dont know how to turn the date off which is frustrating…I’m not even sure the date is right on those…)
Have you ever seen a dog try to catch a kite?

Funniest thing I’ve ever seen.
It could have stayed doing that for hours if it hadn’t been called away…
I know I blog about Wells-Next-The-Sea and my yashica cameras alot, but I really do love them
(and I’m sure you do now too, haha!)
and together they create something quite lovely.

I seriously just want to take this camera out to play all the time now – I think it’s just become a contender to go to Poland with us…
One of my favourite parts about getting to go home (our other home… like Coraline, but not evil…) is going to the beach and visiting Thomas’s family beach hut!

Built by Thomas’s Grandpop the beach hut has been through all kinds of weather and luckily Thomas’s Granny had a picture to show us from around the time it was first built in 1979! (which I accidently brought back to Leeds – oops! Least I got to scan it though… sorry Granny!)

{this is a newer beach hut similar to the one towering above the little beach hut on the right picture}
Over the last 10 years the sand and the other beach huts have built up around the little beach hut but it still looks great and is perfect for a bacon, sausage and egg sandwich on the beach!
Happy Friday! Have a great weekend!
p.s. all the photos except the top were taken with our new yashica samurai - arent they lovely? I’m completely smitten with that camera!
