This post could really be called F/1.4 love… because I am still so smitten with the photos taken with the Olympus OM-10 using the F/1.4 aperture. The depth of field and bokeh type effect is just so pretty… Of course now I just want to take more and more of them, so I really can’t wait for the days to start getting longer and it to be light when I leave work.

A Christmas walk on the beach…

During our week in Norfolk, we managed to get to the beach and it was perfect! I love the beach in any weather and I especially love it with good company.

Although there were a lot of people around, the beach still seems vast and relaxing. Sigh, I love the beach!

Leeds German Christmas Market

Every year Leeds has a German Christmas Market in Millennium Square (I made a video of the carousel last year too)  and this year we went with friends to look around, eat hotdogs, drink honey mead (which was delicious) and I took lots of photos which was so fun. Luckily we had a lovely sunny day too.

I took these photos with both my Refurb LC-A and my parents OM-10 camera, and I’m really enjoying using them together. The OM-10 allows me to capture more details, whilst the LC-A captures photos beautifully at most distances.

After using my 40p OM-40 camera, I decided that now was the time to start experimenting with my parents Olympus OM-10 camera properly… which of course means lots of F/1.4 photos of christmas tree ornaments and decorations (I love the grumpy pug so much). I’m sure I’ll get bored of playing with depth of field eventually, or maybe not.

I also snuck in a slightly blurry photo of Harry, because he’s cute, hurray!
(Did you notice that Harry has the biggest stocking… he’s also spoilt)

Forgotten Film…

Way back in April 2010 we went on a long weekend away with our parents (both sets, they get on, its awesome) and on the way back, we stopped at Castle Howard which I blogged about at the time. However I completely forgot that as well as taking my fuji instax mini, we also took my Dad’s Olympus OM-10 and we never finished the roll… and then, we completely forgot that it was still in the camera. For well over a year… disaster.

However, I accidently finished it over the weekend (playing with the camera, like you do) and here are the photos from that lovely day at Castle Howard… though neither Thomas or I can actually remember who took the photos.

{I remember taking the photo on the right, how beautiful is the light! Shame we still haven’t figured out the shutter speeds lol}

Aren’t the daffodils just amazing? I forgot how many that there were.

I always find the OM-10 quite intimidating compared to my little plastic cameras as there are so many settings but I always love the results from it. Perhaps we should use it more.

Sometimes…

{photos from the half finished film in my Dad’s Olympus OM10 SLR camera}

… I really miss the view from my old room at my parents house.

Our newest toy…

My Dad is one of my favourite people in the whole world so really he didn’t have to give lend me his old camera as I would still love him, but boy I am glad that he did!!

So here it is our new (old) camera to play with: An Olympus OM10 SLR camera from 1979 – this camera is older than me!

(sorry this isn’t a great picture)

I’m really surprised I haven’t blogged about this sooner as I am completely in love with this camera: I love how it looks, how heavy it is, how the dials make little noises when you turn them and the fact there is still half a film in there from who knows when – I’m so excited to finish the roll and see what the photos are!

p.s. Sorry this isnt a post about our weekend – Gee still has the photos :)

p.s.s. The wonderful Cassie is promising a giveaway at 100 followers and she only has 14 more to go. As one of the lovely ladies featured on Diamond in the Rough you know that you want to follow her! x
